In northern Chad, female internally displaced persons (IDPs) are expected to stay in their small home, and most are not free to voice their opinions. In working with this population, ADRA has again and again heard mothers share their desire to earn income to improve the condition of the nearly nonexistent educational system for their children. ADRA will create and mobilize 20 mothers’ associations and provide training and tools in income-generating skills. The mothers will contribute a minimum of 5 percent of their income to school rehabilitation. ADRA will mobilize the community and assist in the improvement of 20 elementary schools.
