Give a Roof to a Displaced Family in Southern Sudan - #30
Separation of Africa’s largest country into Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan has put additional pressure on families to move to where they feel safe and secure. Because of searing heat in the arid desert, it is vital to give families the materials they cannot afford to construct their homes. The building of walls is done with local sun-dried mud bricks. The most important need is for metal pipes to support the reed mats that are covered with plastic sheeting. On top of these is a packed layer of straw and then a compressed layer of mud and straw mixed together, making a roof that keeps the home cool and able to cope with the heavy summer rains. The metal pipes and plastic sheeting are desperately needed and beyond most families’ ability to obtain. Will you help roof a home in South Sudan?
