Provide a Bicycle Ambulance for Malawi - #2
Call 911 is not an expression you hear in rural African communities. In most countries, people have to travel 10 to 12 miles on unpaved rural roads to get to the nearest health facilities. Only in serious conditions do people start thinking about seeking medical facilities. Too often, walking and riding bicycles, motorbikes, or even wheelbarrows are the only options available. ADRA MALAWI is presently piloting the use of bicycle ambulances for the movement of patients from communities to clinics and from one health facility to another, particularly in those areas where no other options exist. A gift of $400 provides a bicycle ambulance to a rural community or clinic.
