In the rural areas of Ghana, many small schoolchildren do not receive adequate daily protein. Valley View University is growing soybeans and has installed a mechanical soy production facility. ADRA has partnered with the school to provide nutritious soy milk to 450 malnourished kindergarten children in three surrounding schools. They receive the soy milk for four days a week during the school year and are measured and weighed once a month. Teachers report less illness, a greater attention span, and higher learning scores from the children receiving the milk.
