In Serbia, 20 percent of the elementary schools are in rural village areas, and 40 percent of these schools do not have toilets! While the schools in large cities are modern, the rural areas have been left behind. The government doesn’t have the funds to address this problem. Most villagers live in poverty and many live in unhygienic conditions themselves. Village schools also serve the community as gathering places for cultural and public activities. You can help three schools install modern toilet and sanitation facilities, and also provide hygiene training to the students and their parents, which will lead to healthier lives for all.
