Amelia grew up in poverty and knew she wanted a different life. Still, the only work she could find was knitting and selling handicrafts on the streets in her hometown. Then, she learned about ADRA’s microcredit program. With her first loan, she created a photocopy business. The success of her business allowed her to attend school and become a lawyer.
Amelia is able to not only support her son and husband but her extended family as well. She also advocates for poor families in her community and provides mediation services to those who cannot afford lawyers.
Your gift provides an opportunity for women that may seem small but extends through them to extended family and the larger community.
