When serious flooding damaged local water systems in Tanzania, Maasai villagers found themselves drinking severely contaminated water. A cholera outbreak followed.
Children in Lengai Longishu’s village were drawing their daily water from the cattle trough, even though they knew it wasn’t clean. People comforted themselves with the thought that if the animals were still alive after drinking the water, they could survive too.
Thanks to your generosity, ADRA installed water reservoir tanks, provided water purification resources, and conducted hygiene training for families.
“I do not have enough words to thank you,” Lengai says. “We had water problems for many years, but finally the water shortage is now history in my village. It is my hope that this gift of clean and safe water will be given to other Maasai who are suffering.”
